Re: Twickenham Riverside
Dear Sir,
With the continuing pressure expressed by the public on the Council, apparent
at the Twickenham Riverside Terrace Group's stalls at Twickenham and Richmond
Green Fairs, it is timely to remind voters and the council leader of what
was said before the last local elections:-
"....scheme for Twickenham Riverside, it's a matter of record that
the Conservatives wanted to see an open public space on the site"
Councillor Tony Arbour, May 2002
"Last Summer, Richmond Council also granted permission for an application
for a Terrace Garden with modest development, put forward by local people"
Councillor Tony Arbour, May 2002
"... a park would provide a much requested public amenity. We also
support the Acadia in the City project, and something substantial to commemorate
the Queen's Golden Jubilee will be the making of the Mayor's year in the
borough."
Councillor Tony Arbour, May 2002
After over 20 years of rotting neglect of the Twickenham Riverside Site
is it not time for action not more words? and not to have most of the
site boarded up another 5 (or more) years.
