Dear Sir,

Richmond Council has at last done something sensible. They have effectively put an end to the most unpopular, money wasting scam ever to be put before the people of this borough.

I voted Lib Dem at the 1998 council election and at the parliamentary election but I voted Conservative at last May's council election mainly because of the Tory pledges including a promise to get rid of this monstrous development. I am delighted Cllr Arbour has kept to his word.

I think this whole proposal should now be looked at in great detail. Who was really making the money out of it, apparently not St Georges or Dawnay Day who both claimed it was only "marginally profitable". The whole project is deeply worrying and since those who concocted it are still around I think it would be sensible to call for an inquiry to find out exactly how the people of this borough came to be placed in this vulnerable situation and exactly who was responsible.
