re: Dawnay Day development comments 20 March 2002

Sir,

I am writing with regards to all of the fuss and commotion over the proposed development in Twickenham. I have one question what’s wrong with some of the residents in Twickenham!!!??? Can't they see a good thing when it's being built right in front of their faces. For too long Twickenham has been the poor relative of Richmond. It's about time something was done to give Twickenham a face lift. My first impression of the place was 'what a dive!’ The high street is awful and some of the shops are only fit for relocation to a shantytown.

Twickenham at last has a chance to start to blend in and compete with the surrounding areas such as Teddington and Richmond. It seems to me that some residents are so stuck in their ways, they don't want to change there to hung up on reminiscing about ‘the good old days’. It's about time these people when out and got a life - you have to face up to it, THINGS CHANGE, – your good old days have gone, it’s a younger generations turn, so lets build a town that they want to live in. Get the 'rif raf' out and put some class into Twickenham. It's about time that Twickenham was made into a town that you go TOO, rather than passing through it on the way to Richmond or Teddington.

Regards,

Sharon

A soon to be Twickenham resident!
