re: Twickenham Riverside Decision 2 March 2002

Dear Sir,

I refer to your headline item reporting the outcome of development control committee meeting on Thursday the 28th of February. No mention is given whatsoever to local support for the Dawnay Day Scheme expressed during that meeting. I agree that some "eloquent submissions" were made opposing the development. However, absolutely no mention is made of any support (local or otherwise) expressed in favour of the development. I am a big supporter of "Twickenham-Online" and believe it has greatly enhanced local democracy. However, it is incumbent on you to report both sides of any argument. There are many residents in Twickenham (Liberal Democrats and otherwise) who support the Dawnay Day scheme. It is only reasonable that your reporting should reflect this fact.

Yours Sincerely

Bill Henry

Our full report of the meeting is being prepared, it was a 7 hour meeting. We have asked for copies of the submissions of those who spoke in favour of the application and those who opposed and when we receive them all they will be included in the report. I really dont think we could work much faster than this. Our Journal report of the meeting went online just after 2am on Friday morning which is pretty good going for any news service. -Ed
