Fireworks warning

From October 11 and through Hallowe'en and Firework Night, the police will be enforcing fixed penalty notices on those who do not act responsibly with fireworks.

This can result in a fine of £80 under Section 11 of the Fireworks Act of 2003.

This applies if anyone is throwing fireworks, failing to comply with a requirement under firework regulations or breaching the firework curfew by letting fireworks off after 11pm. Possession of a firework that should be only in the possession of an adult by anyone under 18 will be an offence. The only fireworks allowed n the possession of under 18s are indoor ones.

Local police officer, Kathy Fenwick, urges everyone to have fun on Halloween and bonfire night. "But behave with consideration to others or you might find that it could be an expensive prank if you mess about with fireworks and get fined," she warned.
