accident - Twickenham Acid
attacks in Barnes A second incident happened three mins later in Nowell Road, Barnes where apparently the victim of this attack was surrounded by the three youths as he was walking along Nowell Road. There was a short altercation and then one of the youths sprayed the victim in the face with some sort of acid, possibly similar to battery acid. The acid was sprayed from a water bottle of the type that is used on racing bikes. The youths then made off to Hammersmith Bridge. A member of the public took the victim at speed to Hospital. (POLICE HAVE NO DETAILS OF THIS PERSON AND WOULD LIKE HIM/HER TO COME FORWARD) He was later transferred to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital burns unit. His injuries were acid burns to face, eyes, chest and back, and they were serious. At
this stage police do not know why these attacks happened enquiries
are on going. It's believed that the youths came from Hammersmith

WARNING ON LETTERBOX BURGLARIES This sort of crime can be easily stopped. KEEP YOUR KEYS WELL AWAY FROM YOUR LETTERBOX. On Monday 06th September 2004 between the hours of 11pm and 8.30am in Shalstone Road, SW14, a Subaru Legacy Estate, silver gray had gone. This was discovered when the owner woke in the morning. When she phoned police she admitted that her keys had been on the top of a wooden chest in her hall 5/6ft from the letterbox. Beware
of intruders at home On Friday 27th August at 1.15pm 2 white males, (one was Irish) called at an address in Buckingham Rd, Hampton to ask if the occupiers required any building work etc that needed doing. The occupier declined, they left. The next day the same males came back to the address and said that next door was having a fence built by them could they come in and measure from their garden. The occupier could not see a problem with that and asked where the measure was; the reply was that he used his feet. On the face of it these two men seemed very friendly so the occupier let one of them into the back to measure the fence line. Whilst he was in the garden the other male knocked on the door again and asked to speak to his mate, he was let through. The two men spoke for a while then the second man went off to get the measure. He went through the house to the front door. The lady of the house heard the front door close but then heard foot steps going upstairs, She then ran up the stairs to see the male going just out of sight, she shouted at him to come down, the man said he had urgently needed to go to the toilet. Both men were then asked to leave. Both men left. Descriptions of the men: white, 20yrs, wearing a blue t-shirt, muscular build. White, 24yrs, 5'11tall,light blue t-shirt, thin face, slim build, Irish accent. Tea
and cricket They then decided to make themselves a cup of tea or coffee and have a little sit down at the seats used by the nursery school that uses the pavilion Monday to Friday to drink the drink and smoke a cigarette. They then opened the fire doors that lead onto the park. There was also fresh graffiti on the main wall. If anyone heard or saw anything please contact Kathy Fenwick 0208 247 7042.
