Attacks could well be linked say police

The Specialist Crime Unit investigating the murder in August of 22-year old Amelie Delagrange on Twickenham Green have linked it to the earlier murder of Marsha McDonnell in Hampton and set up a special task force.

The circumstances showed similarities, state the police: attacks on women at night who were all blonde, young, alone and struck on the head from behind with a blunt instrument.

There have also been four other attacks in the Hampton/Twickenham area which were very serious but not fatal, but none of the victims was able to see her attacker.

Police will investigate attacks on a 28-year-old woman at Hounslow Road in Feltham on 23 August; an attack on Edel Harbison, 34, in Twickenham on 18 April; an attack on Dawn Brunton, 36, in Hounslow on 5 November 5, 2003; and an attack on a 17 year old in Strawberry Hill on 8 January 2003.

A 17 year old youth was arrested in connection with the murder of Marsha Donnell; he has not been charged and is being held in a secure mental unit.
