Homage to Amelie

Flowers and a young tree on Twickenham Green

Family and friends of French student Amelie Delagrange, murdered on Twickenham Green in August, joined her parents as they revisited the scene of her death to plant a tree and lay flowers in her memory.

Grief-stricken, the group who travelled from France for the occasion walked along the river in Twickenham, as Amelie once did. Their walk then took them along King Street and Heath Road to Twickenham Green where brief prayers were said. A bench has also been dedicated to Amelie.

They held a brief and solemn ceremony on Twickenham Green and her parents said that it was important to them to revisit the scene with people from their own community, and to plant the tree which will grow in her memory.

There was also the hope that the visit might focus attention once again on the murder and bring forward some information.

Amelie's father made the familiar appeal: “If you saw something, or know something, come and tell us. It’s not too late, it’s only two months.”

He said the family was confident that the police were doing their best to find a murderer who has killed two girls in the borough and attacked several others in the local area.
