Richmond Council's proofs

The Council has submitted several proofs of evidence to the inquiry into the future of the old baths site on Twickenham's riverside.

Each of these addresses specific points identified by the Secretary of State as reasons for the call-in, which has resulted in a planning inquiry at York House.

The Council's proofs of evidence are:

Dr Jonathan Edis - historic and architectural assessment of the Twickenham Pool building, assessment of the Conservation Area, matters relevant to planning policy PPG15

Mr Paul Freer - matters relevant to local, regional and national planning policy

Mr Peter Fearon Brown - design rationale for the scheme

Mr Tom McKevitt - matters relevant to the Council as landowner.

The Council has also submitted a number of "core" documents. These are extensive and provide (for example) copies of local, regional and national planning policies. Most parties to the inquiry rely to a greater or lesser extent on many of the core documents.

Hard copies of the Council's proofs of evidence and core documents can be viewed at the Council offices by contacting Paul Freer on 020 8891 7306.

The council's short term proposal for the old baths site, which is the subject of the call-in by the Secretary of State and the planning inquiry, was put before Cabinet in July 2003, item 58.

Local people attending the inquiry, representing two organisations, and each with their own aspirations for the future of the site, publish their own proofs and reports.
