Dr. Liam Fox, MP, national Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party, was the Guest of Honour at Twickenham's Grand Autumn Dinner in the Garden Room at Hampton Court on Thursday 14th October.

Association Chairman David Mapp said: "We were delighted that Liam Fox came to Twickenham and we had a full house of members keen to hear a leading politician who had such a success at Conference in Bournemouth.

"Liam Fox will be a key figure in the next Conservative Government and his presence is yet further proof of our party's determination to return Twickenham to the Conservatives."

It was a packed gathering of Twickenham Tories who heard his address Dr. Fox said: "People are disillusioned with this Government. As a result many are disillusioned with politics. They believe we are 'all the same'.

"But Conservative policies are different. And we will make a difference to hospitals, schools, crime and immigration. Our record in offices proves we can - and do - deliver on our promises. Just look at the record of the Thatcher and Major Governments. They rescued us from the bullying trades union barons, helped to win the Cold War and replaced inefficient, bureaucratic nationalised industries and services with real consumer choice.

"We will replace this nannying Government with an Administration which gives real choice to the people."

Parliamentary candidate for Twickenham, Paul Maynard, raised a hearty cheer when he told the party that after three frustrating attempts he had now exchanged contracts on a flat in Teddington, making him a local resident.

He said:" I am proud to share the services, the roads and local experiences with the people of Twickenham whom I seek to represent. I invite you all to join me in making a supreme effort over the coming months to return Twickenham to the Conservatives at the next Election"
